Florida Gym: The Six Pre-Lease Truths
Florida regulates qualifying gyms as health studios through FDACS. Registration is annual, currently costs $300 per business location, and does not mean FDACS approved the contract content.
Section 501.016 begins with a $25,000 security requirement for future-service contracts, subject to statutory alternatives, reductions and exemptions. Test the actual membership and presale structure against the statute.
Florida health-studio contracts need statutory clauses and the registration number. The initial term may not exceed 36 months, later renewals may be annual, lifetime or perpetual representations are prohibited, and cancellation rights apply.
A Florida LLC has $125 in required filing charges. The timely annual report is $138.75 and the post-May-1 total is $538.75.
Florida minimum wage is $14.00/hour through September 29, 2026 and $15.00/hour beginning September 30, 2026.
